OK,I have 1000 channels on my scanner.
Ive programmed my local Police and Fire and some other surrounding areas on it.
I used only 1 bank for all them.
Im not sure if that was what i am supposed to do.

Often, people program one bank with local police/fire, one for state and or county, another for seasonal frequencies such as Forest Rangers, Fish and Game, and possibly one for DPW(normally, DPW is more interesting in the winter. The whole point of any organization of banks is so that you can turn them on/off when you want to concentrate on a particular area, emergency, or maybe you are a fireman mostly interested in fire. What you have done is fine until you find you want to organize it differently.

If you're talking about the Radio Shack PRO-528 you just bought, that's not possible. It can only be programmed 100 channels per bank, in each of 10 banks. Maybe you just didn't organize, or group them per bank?

The banks are nice because they allow you to enable, or disable the frequencies within each bank while scanning.

no, i think what she means is that all the freqs she programed in did not take up a whole bank.

is that right?

Hi Angie and all,

"Im not sure if that was what i am supposed to do."

You're not >supposed< to do anything. Just do what you want baby, it's all yours. Memory banks are a filing cabinet, the filing system is whatever you want it to be. (Harumph!)
