I just received a Baofeng GT-3TP. I am having a problem with the USB cable to program the unit. It is the Baofeng USB cable maunfactured by Baofeng, designed by SainSonic. I am using the latest CHIRP software CHIRP daily-20151225
The USB cable seems to be seeded properly. I am using the Prolific driver version 3.6.81.357 Sept 4 2015.
Symptoms:
When I plug in the radio and turn it on, I am hearing the verbal menu ie It says "Channel Mode".
On my UV5R using its cable, I hear no verbal menu announcement and the UV5R radio programs and clones perfectly.
When I try to download from Radio it displays an error dialog: "Radio did not respond".
I noticed there is no selection for the GT-3TP radio listed in the CHIRP software. I have tried the UV-5R and the BF-F8HP (as per recommendation on the chirp site) and still getting the Radio did not respond...
I did see an article where someone had to cut a small piece off the plug to the radio to get it to seed properly.
Can any other GT-3TP owners chime in?
