Bapern central is 470.9875. That VHF frequency is for federal interop I think

I've always taken it as a in town Boston S.P task force. I got the name Central from their own lingo.

It's possible the BAPERN patch was taken down to use it as an OPS repeater.

BAPERN Central Tac is P25 with some encrypted traffic. The 167 frequency is usually cross patched and simulcast with BAPERN 4, BPD Ch. 1, and some other channels for large events where federal agencies will be involved. Most federal frequencies are now P25 and many of them are encrypted, so it's possible that if it's not being used for interop, it could be encrypted.
