Honestly beside the Chief or Mayor, no one else would really know. They are still active on it currently, and I haven't heard anything else.

I think we are the only town in Lexington County that still uses 460.425mhz and not part of the trunking system. We also hire our own dispatchers, unique for a town as small as ours. It causes problems with communications with any other LEO agency, from polices chases to the poultry festival, most of the cops here don't have radios that can communicate with P25 system that the sheriff, highway patrol and nearly everyone else uses. The funny thing, we have a P25 tower right here in town.

And a follow up question, would buying this scanner, the Whistler 1040 allow me to pick up digital transmissions off the P25 system? I know it won't pick up encrypted stuff like Lexington County SO.

Yes, the 1040 will pick up Palmetto 800 P25 (Digital) just fine. I'm not sure that it will handle Phase 2, but that is several years down the road.

As far as I can tell they haven't been used any, so I doubt you hear anything to confirm, but it is most likely 24850, or maybe 24853.
