To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I received this 3300mAH LI-ION battery today. It doesn't fit in any of my chargers. I have 2 tri-chemistry chargers and a standard one for the Jaguar 700p. Does anyone have an idea which charger this battery will fit in?

They fit in the CH-104560-016 Chargers. They have special grooves in the cups to only allow these batteries to fit. You cant move the cup to another charger either as the firmware in it is setup for LiIon/Poly only. I have one of these chargers, only seen a couple others out there. Not sure if they aren't popular or why they just aren't available. There is a 3rd party tri-chem charger with Trans-Canada branding that will charge these. The cup doesn't exactly fit perfectly because of the fins on the battery but it goes in there with some persuasion.

Figured I would reply here rather than PM. I have a few of these batteries and I will double check but I am pretty sure the cups I am sending you will charge them if the charger you have is true tri-chem. We never really put them in service as we went to the Unity LiPo batteries with the Unity style charger for the P7100's we have out there.

I bought one of those batteries last year for the 7100 I had at the time and had to upgrade to a newer charger. None of the chargers I had would deal with LiPo batteries. Great battery though, once I got the proper charger.... Lasted all day without issue.

Which charger did you get? This battery is a Li-Ion battery. It doesn't fit in any of the 6 chargers I've tried. I ordered one from the same people I got the battery from, but it doesn't fit. Charger is too small. I can't seem to find the right charger this battery. It's frustrating me.

I just acquired the same batteries and was wondering if someone could please post a picture or a link to the chargers for these batteries. They don't fit in the Tri-Chem Single Bay Chargers for our P7200's. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Did some more digging on this today. The BT-010942-001 batteries require CH-016151-016 charger sleeves and will work in charger bases CH-104560-026 and CH-104570-026 Rev E or later.

I found some Tri-Chem Chargers of mine and some are CH-104560-026 Rev D will these work? Then I have another Harris one that is CH-104560-026 Rev E. Are the charging sleeves different or is it the firmware needed to charge these batteries that require the later versions? Thanks!

My apologies, I am not familiar with the charging sleeve numbers. Is this the standard P7200 radio charging sleeve? Thank you!

I have dealt with these batteries before and even gotten the sleeves for my -026 base and it did NOT work. I had to get a specific base that came with the sleeve. Mine ends in -016 and will charge those batteries. The fine print in the service manual states that while it claims to be a "tri-chem" charger, there are two models. One for NiMh/NiCd and one for LiIon. See the attached image right from the manual.

That convoluted mess is one of the big reasons I avoided those particular batteries like the plague, I went with the Honeywell LiPo batteries and charger (35 bucks and it is actually a tri-chem charger) and haven't looked back. Funny enough, there was a guy selling the unicorn chargers at Dayton last year for 15 a pop, I thought about buying a few just in case.

I guess those M/A-COM and Harris chargers I have really aren't Tri-Chemistry. Do these batteries that we are referring to in this thread fit in the Honeywell Tri-Chem Chargers? Thanks!

Was the charger base you used Revision E or later? The reference I posted came directly from the description for the Li-Ion sleeve in the current P7100 Quick Reference manual.

As for the Honeywell / GTS charger, per GTS it will only work with their batteries for the 5100/7100/7200 batteries. When it comes to the 5400/7300/XG batteries the Harris and Honeywell/GTS are interchangeable.

The batteries we are referring to will fit in the GTS/Honeywell. Its a touch tight but they will charge it. I've used mine to charge all flavors of 7100 battery, from OEM NiCd to NiMH and 3rd party LiPo batteries.

FWIW there is also a honeywell retrofit kit to make the M/A Com - Harris charger base into a true tri-chem. It doesn't solve the physical fitment problem but it will make the base actually charge whatever you drop into it.

I didn't look at the base, I'll check it out when i get home and see what its exact Rev is. Mine is unique as it has a sticker right on the base that says "for BT-010942 LiIon batteries ONLY", not sure if thats all of them or its just me.

Thank you DisasterGuy and Radioman96p71 for the help. I will go ahead and buy a GTS/Honeywell charger along with a few batteries. I think I will just use those chargers from now on. And my Harris Tri-Chemistry chargers are all Revision E.

Hmm that looks just like one of my chargers, it does charge those batteries but the fitment is a bit weird. I 'trimmed' down the extra fins on the battery a tiny bit and now its good to go.

Just going by that picture there, I'd say yes, you will need to modify the battery/cup to fit properly. There are 2 sets of fins on the goofy LiIon batteries, one is the same place as the rest of the 7100s and then there is a smaller one towards the back. On the chargers I have its not a horrible fit, but you wont get the radio out without wiggling it a bit. Not ideal for sure but it works.
