• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Thanks, Lynn. I went to the uniden site and it wanted me to regester my radio to gain access to the firmware updates. I have not regestered as of yet. Anyone know how it changes the radio with the updated firmware, is it worth it?

My BC246T has Firmware version 2.10, Released 10-13-2006. This is the newest firmware that I know of for the BC246T. Your version 1.42 is two versions back from that. All the firmware is available at the Yahoo BC246T group, if you don't want to register at the Uniden Web Site.

I really don't remember what the changes are, but they are minor between versions. It probably is worthwhile to upgrade to the latest version.
