on my scanner this word come up error check the card and i shut it off and turn it back on it do not show it

My 296 does that from time to time too. Dont worry, if ti came back up its probably ok. I think soemtimes if the signal is low, it gets confused decodeing the digital transmission and just needs turned off and reset.
