Hi all,

Just asking: Does anyone find the BC346xt poor in sensitivity? I mean it's chock full of all kinds of features
but when it comes down to plain old monitoring my old bc245xlt pulls in stations better ! same for some radio shack models like pro-95 or pro-97 anyone else agree?

One thing you may want to check, is your squelch setting,,,2 or 3 is a very good setting,,ive always used 3 on mine, and just using the stock antennas on my handhelds, i received great on my bc346xt,,and i live out in the country with lots of trees and mountains around me.

and make sure your attenuator isn't on...

On a more general note, statements like this are almost impossible to validate. No mention was made of specific freq ranges, what antenna(s) were being used, your general area (out in the country, urban, etc.). All of this, and many more things can influence how a radio hears a signal. The 245's duckie (the little antenna that comes with most handhelds) might be a bit better performing on some bands, but all things being equal, a duckie is a compromise antenna, therefore expect compromised results. Probably no better than a wet noodle as you get lower in frequency.

Best regards...Mike

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148a Safari/6533.18.5)

I have a PRO95 and a 396xt right in front of me, and while the 95 is very sensitive it completely desenses on 800MHz anywhere near a cell site.

This may be irrelevant to rural users, but this renders it nearly useless in urban environments.

Having said that, I don't know how similar the front end of the 346 and 396 are, but I have been thrilled with the selectivity on my 396, but have other concerns.

I agree with "Vabiro", my 396 and 346 "XT" are very sensative and are are not for the most part bothered by "cell towers" like the GRE/RS products which are destroyed in the mobile by cell towers even after the rebanding....

I agree with Jakemcgraw

I think it is very good at picking up stations. I did think I had a problem and it was the squelch, I found 2 to 3 best. I have the bc 245 and RS pro 2036 and so far the 396sxt is doing better except for my learning curve.
