When I scan what I think is the Private bank, the scanner stops on frequencies that have not been saved to the Private bank. My use is Air only. What is the correct procedure for the BC355N to scan the Private bank and nothing else? I've confirmed by stepping in the Program mode that no other frequencies are entered.

I just looked up a picture of your scanner; I have no real clue. Just two things come to mind. First, did you look in the manual and, second, do you have all the other banks locked out/turned off,?
This is not to insult anyone's intelligence; I'm basing my answers on things I have, or not have, done with my scanners in the past. FWIW. Greg.

Yes, several times. As luck would have it, I figured it out shortly after I made my post. It turns out that "PRIVATE" and "AIR" were both being scanned. That is, when scanning Private only, Air should not be illuminated in the LCD. Of course, it makes perfect sense once you figure it out, but it never occurred to me that the unit would scan two banks at once.

I purchased this scanner because it has a "private bank" i.e.; you can program your favorite frequencies into this band, and turn off all other banks. The private bank only holds 100 frequencies. This might be an issue if you live in or near a very large city. It's not an issue for me, and probably not for most people
