BC370CRS and static

Hope someone out there can point me in the right direction. Have had the BC370CRS scanner for a couple years. The other night I turned it off like normal and when I went to turn it on the next morning I heard nothing but static. The squelch knob had no effect. Unit does work as when there is an active transmission the static is replaced with the transmission. Also the AM/FM and Weather band works fine. Did the following (not in order). Reset scanner memory, changed backup batteries, moved unit to multiple locations, removed and reattached antenna, manipulated all buttons and knobs. Short of opening the unit and looking for ?? I am at a loss. Any ideas? Thanks.
