I bought a used BC780XLT that has a RCA jack on the back and I assumed it was a discriminator tap. I opened up the case and the jack is connected to LND13 DCS Data on the board, anyone know what this mod is for?

I understand what the connection is, and I do not suspect that anyone thought you could get discriminator audio from the squelch circuit. As I stated in my original question what is this modification for, as in what is its purpose, most people don't open up their receiver and do modifications unless their is a end result. So what would you do with a modification such as this?

IC, more of a why question. I can't imagine what somebody might want to do with the data.

I believe you can hook up a data slicer and decode data pages and such. I had a 780xlt with a discriminator tap and data tap.
