BC796D, Firmware updates and rebanding

Taking a 796D out of the box and put into use which has been there for about two and a half years. Can these still be upgraded to the latest firmware release and when rebanding occurs in the area can they be flashed for the new bandplan? If my memory serves the 785 couldn't but the 796 could?

Rebanding, Yes, P25 trunking (especially VHF/UHF SmartZone flavors), No.
