Okay, so I got the unit programmed using Freescan. It works, but I am picking up talkgroups I did not put in to the freescan software. Unfortunately, it is a hospital system and central police dispatch. They are taking over the actual talkgroups I want to hear. I’m not interested in those channels.
I redownloaded the programmer information from the scanner to the freescan software and only the items I’ve programmed are showing.

Can someone tell me what I’ve done wrong or how to remove or block certain channels without interfering with what I want to hear?

Thanks!

I have the ID numbers for the two channels. But they do not show up in my programming in Freescan OR on the scanner.

Sorry, just noticed this after my last reply. It did say ID Search.
What is ID search vs ID Scan? One is searching for everything and the other is programmed ID’s?
Here's a little more information on the difference between using ID Search and ID Scan:

ID Scan stops only on talkgroups that are programmed, as long as they are not Avoided (locked out), and are not in a Department that is Avoided.

ID Search stops on any active talkgroup, as long as it is not Avoided (you can Avoid (lockout) a talkgroup that is not programmed). If the talkgroup is already programmed, you would see the text tag that is associated with it. If the TGID is NOT programmed, then the 'text tag' would simply be the talkgroup ID (no descriptive text).

So with ID Scan in display, nothing is coming through on any channel.
When it’s on ID Search, I’m receiving all the channels I have programmed and the two I do not.
Any ideas?

I’ll give that a shot. I’ve currently just did a temporary lockout on the two channels for the time being.
Thanks for your patience. Still learning this scanner and new to digital.

You no doubt have just frequencies in and no talkgroups. Most people will generally program their digital scanners that way at first without knowing how otherwise. Its not the proper way to do it that way. Where in MI are you that will help a lot. You can see I also am.

Certainly people will say to program from software, but if you know how to hand program you'll be better than most :) Granted its tedious though. Different scanner but programs the same way.

Pressing the "Lockout" button once is a temporary lockout - until the scanner is powered off and on again.

A "Double Press" of the lockout button is permanent.

If you re-upload the file, those lockouts will reset.

Great scanner -

Enjoy!

I will check out the video after posting. Attached will be some photos of the Freescan software as it's set up. I followed a step by step video on YouTube, not that that means much. But, the systems and such I can view in the scanner, so I know it's uploaded. Maybe settings are wrong in freescan for some reason.

I am in Mecosta County, MI
I have two systems programmed (analog for the dispatch) and digital P25 for the others.Freescan_5318.JPG

I don't see any glaring errors however
I don't see any Quick Keys or Startup keys here:

79923

Also, you can leave the LCN's BLANK

Good catch. I will check that out. The LCN's were automatically filled in. I will see if it allows me to blank them. And I will assign Keys manually. I may have completely overlooked that. For some reason I thought it assigned them "By Site" but that may have been my misunderstanding of the system settings.

Also, Under the system settings, there is an option that is "ID Search" or "ID Scan". The selected option was "ID Search". Is that why it isn't functioning under ID Scan mode in the scanner?

You really dont need startup keys, Ive never used em. Whatever quickkeys are on or off its the same when the radio gets started up.
You will need to put the mpscs to ID Scan.
Other thing is I like to turn on Priority ID Scan option, then you can set your police and fire dispatch for priority.

Turning on the PL tones will eliminate any stray interference from electronics or on days with skip - long distance reception that another county would key up your radio.

154.445 in the tone select put in 162.2

Since you have aeromed in, be sure to put in air lz 1 and 2, they are used for med copters to talk to the fire dept. on approach. They are statewide though.

Also
396867/54COMMecosta - Osceola Counties Common Mutual Aid

look at the state police district 6 talkgroups too.

If your interested in the camp grayling ones be sure make a new system and put all their talkgroups in too. Look over then any DNR ones too, be sure RAP 1,2,3,4 are in.

Thanks. I will give it a shot this afternoon.

I do have the the AIR LZ 1 & 2 programmed. And for the MSP District 6, I had them programmed in, but was getting so many police calls, I was missing the local fire/ems dispatch, which is what we're more interested in... I am not a fan of hearing all the domestic calls and traffic stops over the big structure fires.
