I just picked up one of these scanners, programmed one conventional frequency and one P25 frequency. The P25 one is in a P25 system and the conventional one is in a conventional system. How do I select each frequency to listen to? For example, if I’m on scan mode, and it’s picking up the P25 one, how can I make it so the radio will only tune into the conventional channel? I have no idea how to do this, hence why I’m asking. Thank you. I know on my BC125AT I can just press hold and select what channel I want to specifically tune into.

System Hold will do that. Just press HOLD to stop the scan, then press and hold HOLD button to hold on the current system.

Can I switch to a system that isn’t currently being talked on and hold on it? For example if I was to go to sleep but leave my scanner on and I wanted to leave it on the fire channel, how would I do that? I’m confused by all the different ID’s and Sites on this thing. Thanks

Once you press HOLD. you can twist the knob to scroll through things until you see what you want to hold on. Then just listen to that cannel.
It’s nothing but static when I do that on any of the channels, I just tried it. Adjusting the squelch does nothing

You can select conventional systems and trunked systems by using quick keys. Here is a PDF file which will answer all of your questions about using quick keys:

Are you using programming software? If so, we can look at your file and check it for problems.
I have absolutely zero idea how to use any software for these things. I’ve programmed 4 channels into it manually so far

If you are programming a P25 trunked system, you need to create a system with the site or sites closest to you. Frequencies go into the sites. Talkgroups go into groups. A talkgroup on a trunked system is similar to a channel or frequency on a conventional system.

That shows sites for conventional frequencies. It isn't a trunked system.

For whatever reason that channel and the only other p25 one I programmed are both all static when I select them but there is no static when scanning even when there is chatter

I’m trying to do this, but on the P25 frequencies. I already did it on my conventional analog ones

P25 conventional frequencies do not have talkgroup ID's (TGID). TGID's are used only for talkgroups in trunked systems. A P25 conventional frequency may have a NAC (Network Access Code). P25 conventional frequencies are digital. The equivalent of a NAC on an analog conventional frequency is CTCSS or DCS (also known as PL or DPL). For both analog and digital conventional frequencies, you will receive only transmissions broadcasting that code even though there may be several users on the same frequency.

I do have an SDS100 and DO NOT have a 325p2. However, a few years back I traveled to Portsmouth and Epping. I could pick up New Boston PD clearly on the NAC per db. The NAC may have changed. I would go to the transmitter site itself, and see what happens. Make sure that frequency is in SEARCH mode and not with a NAC programmed.

Could it be that you are slightly out of range of the P25 decode from it? Distant P25 signals on all my radios sound off with static / data sound until I'm in decode range. Since it's just a conventional frequency and not a trunked system, there is not much "programming" that could be wrong. Again not having this particular radio....
