BCD396T direct frequency entry?

I seem to remember that there is a way to directly enter a frequency (without storing it) into the BCD396T. Can someone enlighten me?

I recall it has hidden in the manual but I've looked a few times with no luck.

When the radio is scanning, push the hold button. Enter in the frequency and push hold again. You can also use this method to temporarily enter a trunking talkgroup.
