BCD436HP/BCD536HP: BCD436HP internal battery

Hey to everybody.

I did not know that there was a program through Uniden to send in a 436 for a factory internal battery replacement. Since this program is now years expired, is it still possible to send in and pay for said battery replacement?

The free repair campaign ended years ago. The only problem is that the scanner will not keep time. It used to be that you had to enter the time every time you turned the scanner on once the battery failed. A firmware update was issued which gave you 5 seconds to start setting the time and then proceeded to finish the boot process. Unless you have extremely old firmware, you don't need the battery repair for the scanner to work without setting the time. You can have the scanner repaired for the fixed charge. If your screen is dim, you can have it repaired at the same time. There was a problem with the backlight LED's going bad. That problem was also included in the free repair campaign. Make a note of any problems and leave it taped to the scanner. You might as well get everything repaired for a single charge.

The clock is only used to time/date stamp recordings if your using that function...
But if your display backlight is starting to get dim I would send it in for repair...
With a note that your scanner wasn't sent in when the Repair Campaign was active...
