Purchased a new out-of-the-box BCD996P2, but it appears that it does not accept manual programming in the 700 MHz band and when using the search function, it jumps from 500 Mhz to 800 Mhz. H-m-m. Were some models mfg'd for export minus 700 band? Btw: Purchased from Amazon.

What exact frequencies can't you enter? The 996P2 receives the 700 LMR band just fine.

That also is my assumption. So, it would appear to be a programming quirk that it will not accept a 700Mhz LMR manual input, but only via Pro Scan. Which I hasten to add,I have yet to try (entering via ProScan).

An example frequency?

You didn’t answer the question asked of you…

Depends on which 700Mhz frequency.

Frequency Coverage

  • 25.0000 - 512.0000 MHz
  • 758.0000 - 823.9875 MHz
  • 849.0125 - 868.9875 MHz
  • 894.0125 - 960.0000 MHz
  • 1240.0000 - 1300.0000 MHz

The answer is:
772.43125c
773.28125773.45625c774.03125c774.58125c

Sorry, for the delayed response, By way of explanation, not excuse, I was called in on a status conference re: an upcoming oral argument date before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in NYC. It's not nice to keep a Justice holding while I do my RR thing. Hence, the delay.

I can enter those just fine. Keep in mind the display won't show the full frequency, so 773.28125 will show as 773.2812.

Those are trunked system channels...where exactly are you trying to enter them into the scanner? You need to first create a P25 Standard system, create a site, then enter them as site frequencies. It's pretty straightforward. Or just use ProScan to import the system/site and make your life a lot easier.

I will use ProScan as recommended.

Thanks much. I will post an update as time permits.

Thank you. I will double, if not triple check it out.

"Do you get an error message when trying to enter the 700 MHz frequencies?" Answer: No error message, nothing whatsoever happens.

Much appreciated. I will keep posting with progress advisories.

Btw: Purchased from Amazon.

This thread has caused me some consternation, as I also recently procured a new BCD996P2 from Amazon.com.

The unit was delivered today, with (currently unlisted) firmware version 1.10.05.

I immediately created a P25 System and entered the frequencies for New Mexico DTRS Site 016. All frequencies for this site have "7" as the first digit, and I encountered no issues keying them in on the front panel.

The radio is now receiving the same P25 traffic as my BCD325P2, so needless to say I'm feeling a lot better!
