BCD996T and Central Arkansas

I was looking at this scanner today and the sales person at Rat Shack said it was a waste of money because the state was going digital and scrambled.

Is anyone in the area familiar with this and /or is there a fix?

The person you spoke to was not well informed. The 996 will work quite well on the new Arkansas system (no documented encryption going on on that system, but an Arkansas local might chip in with more info).

UPMan is being very polite in his comment about the Radio Shack employee. Rule #1, never rely on a Radio Shack employee for any kind of technical information, unless it is cell phones, and even that would be suspect!

Don't let them dissuade you from considering the 996.
