Has anyone using the BCD996T been able to trunk a motorola analog system after rebanding? In Jefferson County, Ohio we are getting ready to change everything and someone told me that the BCD996T will not work after rebanding is doneinmy area.

No firmware releases for ANY scanner have been developed yet, since there are no large scale Moto rebanded systems - yet. Once a fix is developed, the 996 will work again - but how that fix will be distributed and applied is not yet known.

I'm in Colorado and the state is in the middle of rebanding the system here. I have not had any issue with the rebanding of sites. They are generally dropping the original frequency by 15 mhz, so I just programmed all the sites control channels with the CC's that are listed in the RR database and 15mhz down. Works like a dream. I'm also using the GPS option to turn on and off sites. Funny enough, I'm also in Jefferson County.

That is because Colorado is a P25 system. P25, EDACS, and LTR systems only require the reprogramming of the new frequencies. Motorola Type I and Type II systems will require an as-yet unknown control channel format change. If it is possible to provide an update for such systems, the update will require testing on a live system prior to release. It could take as long as 3-4 months to publically release such an update (again, assuming it is possible to do so).

For a more complete description of how various scanners are affected by rebanding, see the rebanding wiki article.

So why does the uniden site say that all I'll have to do is reflash my scanner, and is there no system that is done with the rebanding process yet?

That is the hope.

No system that requires the updated control channel has completed the rebanding process. Until at least one such system has rebanded and is on the air, no update will be possible.

To quote Uniden's site:

This statement is based on the current rebanding plan, as accepted by FCC and industry. Future changes to this plan could affect Uniden’s response or its ability to respond. Nothing in this statement should be construed as any type of promise or warranty. Uniden reserves the right to make changes to its rebanding response policy at any time.

Toledo,Ohio is going to be in the last phase of rebanding I was originally bummed by this because I live about .25 right in beetween a nextel tower and and the local PD I monitor.Cost me quite a bit trying to get the best signal I could before I found out the Nextel tower was there. Now it looks like everything will be taken care of by the time it all gets to us.;)Patience is a virtue
