I'm trying to figure out how to overcome accidentally locking out a scan group.
There are 3 systems (banks) in the 996XT. Bank one is a large trunked system with 7 groups and most of the scanning time is spent on that bank.
The other 2 banks are small towns with only 4 or 5 frequencies in each and one 1 group set up in each of those banks.
What is happening is a user is trying to lock out group 1 in the first in the first bankby pushing the volume control and then hitting the 1 to lock out group one in the first bank. However, sometimes the scanner moves into bank 2 or 3. Then, when he hits 1, he actually locks out the only group in the bank and the scanner reads NOTHING TO SCAN. I cannot figure out how to get back into the bank where the only group is locked out. I have to read the radio with the computer, unlock the groups and reprogram.
How can I, through the controls on the scanner, get back in to unlock the locked group?
