BCT15X or BC346XT

Looking to add another scanner to the house hold here. I have a BC246T and plan on keeping it and even thought about getting another one of those. I have been eyeing the 15x and the 346xt. I don't plan on keeping either in the car because the 246 will be there. As far as reception which one is the better pick for the house? Every handheld I have ever had always outperformed the base unit by a long shot as far as reception goes.

Unfortunately I don't have a BC15X to compare it to, but my 346XT picks up great! It does fine with the included duckie antenna, but when used with my outdoor discone, I can easily pick up two and three counties away.

I think I will go with the 346xt for the house and keep my 246t in the truck. The 246 is one of my favorites and everyone says the 346 is better than it so I look forward to getting that one.

Received the 346 today and am well pleased. It was exactly as you said it was and I already have it programmed thanks to FREESCAN and it's working great.

Anyone interested in a nice used BC246T?

Looks like you found your radio! It's a nice hand held. For future reference, I've run both side by side and don't see much difference between the two in reception/scan. I started with the BCT15X and then picked up the 346xt. I could have saved $200 and gone with only the 346xt. I like the 15x with larger read LCD and more robust radio feel, but that's just me and my clumsy fingers. You get mil air with the 15x that your 346 doesn't have. That's really the only negative. I run every thing with ProScan, so size of the radio doesn't really matter. You made a good choice going with the 346xt.

I really like the 346. I don't listen to air much so it's AOK for what I need. It picks up really good with just the stock but I have a Diamond coming for it.
