Hi,

I bought a Uniden BearTracker 885 and set zip code manually because I was at home, but I have gps in the set and want to use the feature in the car, but the device seems ignores gps since first launch and configuration.

Is it possible to clear zip code or at least to reset the scanner without access to Windows PC?

Thanks

I did a quick search for GPS & the Beartracker 885 but only found one mention of GPS. It mentioned you must have a clear view of the sky when using the GPS “puck”. That puck is the GPS antenna. Placing it on the dash of your vehicle will allow reception of the GPS satellites but only if you have a view of the sky thru your windshield. If you try it while parked inside a garage it won’t “see” the GPS satellites. I know this sounds obvious but the concept of “line-of-sight”, where there is nothing between the satellites and the puck antenna that will block reception is lost sometimes. Hope you have better luck with how to engage the GPS function on that model… the manual contents doesn’t list specific GPS operational procedures and I did not read the manual front to back.

On page E-22 of the manual, if a GPS is installed, the radio will ignore the zip setting and use the GPS instead. It's automatic.

Receiver
The GPS receiver provides location information so the radio can select
local public safety channels from the scanner database.
1. Connect the RJ45 cable to the GPS receiver and to the radio. The
GPS reciever automatically begins to acquire position information
from the satellite.
2. The GPS icon, , dispays in about 1 minute when the radio
receives GPS data. It remains on as long as GPS is connected and
receiving position information. The icon goes away if the GPS
disconnects and stops receiving position information.

Did you ever get gps to work ? I’m having the same problem. I believe the satellite icon should at least come on when it has a clear view of sky . Mine has clear view and not working.
