• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I am looking to get a better antenna for my car currently I have this - 800 MHz Scanner Antenna Mini Magnet Mount BNC for Motorola Mobile Radio 11" | eBay

It works no worse than the original antenna but I live in an area with a lot of trees and they cover most of my property and the county (Dutchess, Ny) What would you recommend I buy / do to extend my coverage? I listen to the 400mhz fire channels and the 800mhz digital system. I can pick up some transmissions crystal clear (especially the 400mhz dispatch...Response and command channel is always choppy however)
in the 800mhz as well its loud and clear and the next moment it can be garbled and just cuts out and skips to the next channel.

hey do any of you guys know if its magnetic?? I am too lazy to mount right now
They have mobile NMO mag mounts and the antenna easily screws on.

At home I use a NMO base adapter. I can't mount outside so I put it on a torch light pole inside and it works great. It can also easily be moved around to adjust for reception.
