I recently had another birthday they seem to happen at a faster pace these days. My wife purchased me a new scanner SDS200 that has been on my list for awhile. I have it setup but it seems i am not hearing much on the Anderson County SC P800 system. I think i may have missed the boat and they have encrypted much of the communications for LE. If anyone has any input or maybe i am missing something all help is appreciated.

If my local Law enforcement is encrypted what other services are available to listen to in the upstate of South Carolina? I have fighter jets and Military aircraft that fly over often from the Donaldson Center in Piedmont SC i assume. Any tips on how to listen to their traffic?

Looking at the database, it looks like Anderson Co SO is encrypted, but Belton/Anderson PD is not, nor is fire. Make sure you have the correct towers programmed in (shown below) and have the TAGS active in the programming.

Regarding what's been documented in the RRDB, focus on the "Mode" column. For conventional channels: AM FM, FMN, P25, DMR & NXDN (the latter 2 require paid upgrades to monitor on an SDS200) are monitorable. Anytime you see an uppercase "E" as a suffix on any of the digital modes (as with P25E, DMRE or NXDNE) this would denote full encryption. A lowercase "e" as a suffix would indicate partial encryption (sometimes clear, sometimes not) With trunked radio systems, modes "A" "D", (less commonly "M") and "T" will be monitorable to you. Full encryption would be denoted as "DE" or "TE" and partial encryption "De" or "Te". Hope this helps & welcome to the RR forums!
