A LEO neighbor of mine advised they ran into some issues, however are now scheduled to be up and running on the new system this Monday 8/13/12. They (LEO personnel) all have new portables for the new system, however they are leaving the old radios in their vehicles as back-up.

They have now switched over to the 700/800 mhz system "Tennessee Valley Regional Telecommunications System" effective about 2 weeks ago. The new system is what basically everyone is switching to now. It is going to be a statewide system so everyone can talk to everyone across the state.
As of right now, I understand they are using the UHF (460.175 for Blount Sheriff) only as a back up. All of their dispatching for Blount Co, Maryville City and Alcoa City (Sheriff, police and fire) are being done on the new system.

There is a lot of information at the forum, especially the TVRTS TG unids forum.

That 460.175 has been around since the mid 70's when I lived off 411. Odd to see a "legacy" system finally go. BCSO cars were blue and white
