• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I have asked a few radio gurus this; however the answers seem to be as varied as the wind. Maybe someone or others on this forum know a little about this more than those who I have asked.

With the burgeoning explosion of Bluetooth & WiFi devises, do these things effect CB radio signals? The reason I am asking, since we bought a Samsung smart TV and a few other gadgets, I seem to be getting more static than before and need to push my squelch up to near 50%. I have a 22' roof top antenna (tuned to 1.3 swr) hooked into a DX 959 Galaxy SSB radio that I use a mobile and base radio. I have a twelve volt wall plug in as a power supply. I also have blue tooth hearing aids, smart phone, Smart TV and several other do-dads that are blue tooth.

Bluetooth is on a totally different frequency... So any interference would be electrical (power supply) or unintended..
We have lots of Bluetooth devices, including a microphone without any problem... Can you try plugging the TV into a different circuit?

Plasma TVs are notorious for generating RF noise, as are LEDs.

BTW- Those so-called "smart TVs" can be easily hacked. Just like all of that other IoT (Internet of Things) junk. Simply because the manufactures could care less about security. It'll take an act of Congress to change things. Especially with home routers where people don't stay abreast of router firmware, get hacked and wonder why their bandwidth sucks.

Anyway... had to throw that out there.

I noticed that I have had to set my squelch higher (lately) than I use to (years ago). I use to run with mine set at about "33%" (before I was assigned overseas), and after I finally got my radio/antenna setup (15 years after getting back to the states), I have to adjust my squelch to at least "50%." Even sitting out on top of one of the buttes (south of California City, CA), no utility poles, nothing around for MILES, I still had to adjust my squelch way up. One of my favorites is at 35°03'47.6"N 117°54'56.4"W.

Dare I run with the conspiracy theory, controversial answer of "climate change?" I'm not a subject matter expert in this field, just offering up my observation(s).

Yeah, the communists and anarchists are going to use CB to take over the world. I thought everyone knew that. :)
