• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I just purchased the Doss 1681 wirless Bluetooth speaker. It plays but theres a delay vs a ear bluetooth. If i hook it up direct to the pager base amp from the line out of the bluetooth speaker to the speaker jack on the base it plays but has that annoying pop or thump. Why dose the bluetooth part have that delay that cuts of the first part of conversion.

I can't answer as to why but I understand the frustration.

I'm sure this topic is on the RadioReference forums, but so far have not had a lot of time to look into it. I've seen a few post but none answered the questions I've had. I haven't seen the answer to the fix.

I wonder if it's related to the delay and hearing the radio traffic twice whenever I have my G5 on the amplified charger? That is problematic enough. But whenever I have one of my SDS scanners going it just compounds the problems so much more because you're hearing the same radio traffic, providing you're on the same talk group or in your scan at the time, coming at you at three different times with the delays. Due to the delay between the scanner audio, which I attribute to it needing to somehow use the SD card before the audio is passed, makes it hard to just use the SDS scanner and another regular scanner if they come across the same transmission at the same time. And then the G5 lower volume audio that comes through the Unication amplified charger speaker about 1 - 2 seconds prior to the louder audio passing through makes it sound like you have 3 out of sync radios receiving the same signal. If you're trying to listen for an address or any detail it can really make it hard and often impossible to catch the details in the transmission. This is something I'm going to look into and try to fix on my G5 setup.

When I try to use my G5 and an amplified Bluetooth speaker, I don't get a thump as much as I get a set of beeps or noises at the end of the transmission. I believe it's at the end because I haven't tried doing it in a while. There's no way you can put up with using a Bluetooth speaker and listening to this. It's very similar to what you hear when you go back and listen to one of the recorded transmissions on the G5. It's those same set of noises at the end of the transmission. It's definitely not a noise you want to hear. I've never tried it with Bluetooth headphones because I don't want to spend the money on them and then have this same thing happen in my ear. Does it work better if it's just a Bluetooth headset type of setup?

My only solution has been to try and make sure that I don't have the same talk group or frequency scanning on the scanner and the pager at the same time. But since this is a totally different topic I'm getting on, I'm going to stop talking about it.

I really do hope I can get these issues solved. And the one that you're talking about, even though mine sounds a little bit different than you described, is definitely something I hope to be able to fix. But I do wonder also if the two issues I mentioned, one being the same issue you're having, are related?

I didn't think about that but that would make good sense as to why the audio comes through twice and louder the second time. If there is an amp that is kicking on it might be what is causing the audio delay? I don't know why any audio should pass through the charger speaker before the audio you were supposed to hear, or the Amplified audio, passes through the speaker? You can sort of get use to it if you are just listening to the G5 but if another radio is in the equation it really is not something I seem to be able to get used to. And if it is somewhere like a fire station where there are a mix of pagers on the charger and pagers on various personnel, that delay might really cause problems?

I'm wondering if there is a fix? I know I saw some sixes mentioned in other threads as to the noises that plague Bluetooth speakers. But the ones that I have tried back about 5 months ago did not help. I'm not even sure where to find the threads talking about those right now.

There is intentional delay when using BlueTooth and (I believe) the amplified charging base. The echo effect is an issue that was being investigated, but the delay is not going away, AFAIK. I agree that it sucks when you're in a environment where there are other radios that don't have delay.

Unfortunately the Klein Blu RSM does not work with the G4 or G5. I emailed Unication and they said they would look into it.
I suspect its not an issue with Unication but rather a limitation or BT profile setting the Blu RSM has set. Basically i dont think the Blu RSM is backwards compatible with BT v2 that Unication uses.
It does pair and work with my KNG2-P800 (although PTT does not work, which is fine as i use it as a scanner).
