Is it just me, or has BNSF stopped giving track warrants out over the radio? Ive been monitoring the RR freqs recently and have noticed a drop in comms. Also have noticed no track warrants being given over the radio. Just curious about it. Ive just started monitoring the RR again after a couple of years of not listening to them.

Several RR's have been changing their frequencies lately, for future NXDN comms. For instance, where NS used to have 160.950 basically all over the system, now each Sub has it's own frequency now.

Could it be possible that BNSF has changed the frequency in your area?

Also, though not widespread yet, there finally are some mainline NXDN comms on class 1 mainline now.

Maybe they are using electronic track warrants. MOW on a lot of railroads have laptops or tablets and handle track time that way. A bigger railroad like BNSF likely has something like that implemented.

BNSF upgraded the line through Bismarck to CTC, so there aren't any track warrants anymore. MOW will still need to get track and time, but, as mentioned, those can be given electronically rather than over the radio.
