BOONE COUNTY, West Virginia -
A Boone County man is facing numerous charges after troopers said he held his family hostage on Tuesday, October 21, 2014.

A trooper was dispatched to the 6500 block of Hewett Creek Road in Boone County around 5:15 a.m. It was described as a "domestic situation." The trooper was told that the suspect, Cameron Booth, 38, was barricaded in his home, threatening to kill his wife and three children.

The trooper learned that the suspect and his wife had been in an argument Monday night, troopers said. During that argument, Booth held a kitchen knife to his throat, and told his wife he was going to kill himself. Booth's wife tried to take the knife away, and got a small cut on her hand as a result.

Booth made it impossible for his wife to call for help during the argument, troopers said. His wife tried to leave with the children. Troopers said Booth told his wife he would kill himself if she did.

Court documents state Booth laid the knife down, and the family went to sleep. Shortly afterwards, Booth got back up, got the knife, and brought it with him to bed. Because of that, Booth's wife told troopers that she was unable to leave with the children.

Shortly afterwards, his wife was able to post a status on social media asking for help. Troopers were notified of the situation because of that post. "The information was obtained by a CPS hotline call that was made to the West Virginia State Police," court documents read.

Booth was arrested, and taken to South Western Regional Jail
