On and off over the last two days, 162.2375 has been used by truckers on I-40 near Kingman with some very choice language and complaints about the weigh stations that they must pass thru. It's most entertaining at times. This frequency has been used in the recent past by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, possibly the Hopi Tribe. So, if you want something different to monitor, program this frequency into your scanners. Having a second radio and searching thru the VHF federal frequency range can be useful in finding new active channels to listen to. They are talking as I type this message.

I've heard some unusual comms from time to time on unusual frequencies. Most were very brief and sounded like simplex surveillances, directed activities, or some illicit coordination. The border area has lots of it, but the cartels have gone encrypted and I'm certain that Fort Huachuca listens intently.

Last summer near Marble Canyon, there was weird VHF-Lo band activity on Army frequencies, but the traffic was not military whatsoever. It sounded as if it was range/target control, so I suspected that it was paramilitary traffic.

I'd be somewhat surprised to find bootleggers using a BIA frequency that close to a reservation, but truckers are mobile enough to avoid detection if they are discreet with the PTT button.

Most likely Canada truckers using VHF radios, as used up North. Couldn't find that in any list online, but way up North the truckers use VHF radios and the frequency assignments are different in the USA. They are really not authorized to use it them in the USA, but guess they don't know the rules or just don't care.

What PL / DPL ?

Keep in mind the CN channels are not at 12.5 khz, so they [assumption it might be Canadian Truckers] likely are on 162.2300 or 162.2350 or 162.2400, never mind that you are down near the Mexican Border and their band plan [is likely much different from ours] is unknown to me.

We get them all the time in New England [Mutual Aid for snow storms/ice storms] but others have reported them across many of the US Highways.

Remember OUR Federal Band [162-174] is used by Canada for Business Band.

Here is one from Oregon, on an adjacent input freq, tripping the local Power Net
