I've noticed that BPD doesn't use any emergency tones, in fact, the past few stabbings I've heard on the radio, I found out about when everyone was saying "Code 19" and the address. I'm not hearing the initial dispatch for the stabbing in the first place. Is there an alternate frequency for emergency dispatches? Right now I'm scanning between Rox/Dorchester/Southie.

No, what you hear is what they use. There is no citywide "hot shot" channel as some larger cities use. If you missed the initial dispatch it was because your scanner was on another channel or maybe the call didn't go out as a stabbing, but as some other type code.

Or the initial dispatch went out on the computer

Most calls initially go out over the radio, especially high priority calls. That's so that the officers who aren't in cruisers don't miss them. Remember that motor officers, bike patrols, foot patrol, etc., don't have terminals. Also, if a cruiser has an inoperable mobile work station, the unit isn't automatically pulled from service.

Most calls, even low priority ones, are initially dispatched via voice.

I wish the Boston Police channel streaming would be just for Boston Police... Not everything else
