Newb question; I got Sentinel to program the 436 just fine. Three Favorites are humming along and trunked systems work great. But for the life of me I can't figure out how to get the thing to go to the AM and FM broadcast bands. I see aircraft frequencies in the National database but how can I tune the broadcast bands?

Thanks-

Your 436 will not pick up AM broadcast bands. It will pick up FM broadcasts. I believe in order to hear them you need to do a custom search setting the lower limit at 88.000 and the upper limit at 107.9. I don't use my scanner to listen to things I can pick up on an ordinary radio. I don't know if you can include them in a favorites list or not. Perhaps someone can chime in and let you know if this is possible.

FM Broadcast Band

Welcome to RR. The BCD 436HP will not receive the AM broadcast band. To search the FM broadcast band press Menu>Search For>Enter>Edit Custom>Enter>Custom 0 (or another Custom 0-9)>Enter>Edit Search Limit>Enter>Set Lower Limit comes up>8>8>.>0>0>0>Enter>Set Upper Limit comes up>1>0>8>.>0>0>0>Enter>Press Menu two times to back out>Search For comes up>Custom Search>scanner will pick up FM broadcast. To change stations turn scroll control on top.To get back in Scan press Function and System at the same time. To get back to this saved Custom 0, press Menu>Search For>Enter>Custom Search> Enter. Good Luck. Mike

Thanks for your responses. I was thinking it might of resided in the menus but I should have known it was simply a search. BTW, A wide banded scanner takes the place of several radios that don't need to be carried around.

Thanks-
