Has anyone had any luck listening to Holden Beach PD or any other services in Holden Beach? The DB lists 2 frequencies (453.75 and 458.75), but I can't get anything on either of these.

Any advice?

Thanks in advance!

Brunswick is migrateing to VIPER. Don't know if they are complete yet. Maybe someone else can chime in on the status of the conversion.

Actually I found the RR page that talked about Brunswick switching to LTR and that seems to have worked.

I added these frequencies to an LTR bank:
002 2 Holden Beach 01 453.33750 03 460.41250 05 460.28750 20 460.62500

From the database. I seem to be picking up stuff now although one of these frequencies is constantly on (sounds like squelch is off, even tho it's not). Is it safe for me to L/Out this channel and not miss anything? I'm guessing it's like a data channel, although I'm not totally sure how LTR works.

Also, I get the annoying 10-second data burst which I assume I will have to live with, but does anyone know a way to block the data burst (just so I don't have to listen to it). I have a PRO-164 with the latest firmware (1.08).

Also, on the database, what are the numbers beside each frequency? (01, 03, 05, 20)

Thanks!

All local P.D's were on the Brunswick Co. trunked LTR system. Info is on the B.C.data base.
I've been monitoring VIPER for the last few days, since I returned from vacation. Only hearing Sheriffs traffic.

Holden Beach PD is on the UHF LTR system and specifically dispatched on Police Dispatch 2. They're the 400 units. They are very very quiet, I never heard more than 3 or 4 calls a day when I was there 2 weeks ago, and that was with the scanner on most of the time. I never did hear anything on their UHF Government frequency.

The HBPD Officer I spoke with said it would be another year before any of the small police departments make the transition to VIPER, and like posted above, only the Sheriff's Office is using VIPER (plus a patch on the EMS channel)
