This article says it is a UHF P25 system: New Radio Communications System Goes Live - Brunswick County, VA

STARS is a VHF P25 trunking system that is primarily for state agencies. If the above article is correct, they aren't on STARS, despite what you were told.

But apparently nobody from that area has submitted details on the new system to the Radio Reference database. The Brunswick County page still just lists the older conventional frequencies.

Is the 453.55 traffic digital or analog?

I noticed when went through this past weekend the Fire Dispatch sounded like it was being patched from something digital

Here's what I logged last week: 453.5500 BCSO Dispatch, NAC 2AE; 460.1125 Fire & EMS, NAC 2BE; and one unknown agency, 460.3875 NAC 2CE

It would seem that it is a conventional system with agency-specific frequencies rather than a trunking system with shared frequencies. Based on the license, it seems likely that the repeater inputs are +5 or -5 mhz from those identified outputs. Hopefully the Sheriff and Fire/EMS frequencies can now be entered into the database.

-----------

There's more. Missing from this thread's posted licensed frequencies additionally are:453.6375 mhz. Unknown tac mobile; 453.7875 mhz. Unknown tac mobile; 460.5875 mhz. Unknown tac mobile and 460.5875 mhz. Unknown tac mobile. These most likely are associated with the appropriate user's repeater frequencies all of which need to be monitored and ided..
