Buchanan County, MO online scanner

Does anyone know why this online scanner has so many listeners?
It always has between 150 and 400 listeners. I've listeners to it a few times, it's a good sounding feed, but I never hear a lot of traffic let alone anything captivating going on. Just curious if there's a story behind the high listener count that puts up there area of Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Etc.?

Likely just locals. There are several streams that average a ton of listeners even with little activity. Usually tends to be larger towns/cities.

I always feel like my stream has more people listening to it despite nothing interesting happening. Although my average is 15-20 listeners. Although right now there’s only 3 listeners on my stream at time of this post (Polk, Hickory, and Dallas County Public Safety Live Audio Feed)

This feed (Springfield Police and Fire, Greene County Sheriff and Fire Live Audio Feed) is another example that always has a large listener base despite there not being anything interesting going on most of the time. But this feed is mostly locals and contributors to a Facebook group for the area.

@KA0KDW guess your right about the locals, the biggest city would be St Joe.

On rare occasions my feed tops 200 listeners. But that’s only when I put an alert on my feed for pursuits. Amd post on the Facebook group that goes with my stream.

From st joseph 911 operator Buchanan county will be re programming their radios and at the moment to leave it open to the public for listening
