The new Buck Creek Fire Station broke ground yesterday at the Mt Comfort Airport. For those who attend the airshow it will look a lot different at the aiport with the addition of the new fire station.
The new station replaces the present building the department has used for 54 years. That building and the Township Acceossors office will both be sold at auction once the new station is built. The new structutre will be known as the Buck Greek Fire Station and Government Center.
The new station will sit on 4 acres of ground on the road leading to the tower & hangers on the same side of the road as the airport. It will be about 2 football fields East of the airport fuel and maintenance building.
The whole deal took a lot of meetings with the aiport authority but they got it done, unlike past deals they had to buy the 4 acres of land, but only paid $5000 for it. Other departments got their land free. To save Buck Creek Twp taxpayers even more money though the new building will be built by the members of the fire department and not a contractor. They have a retired contruction worker who will oversee contruction.
