Can anyone tell me how individual towns are identified when calls are dispatched? I haven't lived in NJ for awhile but years ago seem to recall that towns were addressed by District #s. Cinnaminson, for example, was District 20 or District 2 (can't remember which).

Is there somewhere on the net that has the designators for each town?

I posted this because Google was not my friend on this question. Negative on all the links you listed. The closest anything gets is a breakdown of which towns are in which sectors (N, NW, NC, S, etc.). Nothing indicating how units from each individual town are identified. Used to be that each town had a 2 digit identifier and each unit had a number. Thus, a call would go something like:

Dispatch: "2015 Central"

Patrol Unit: "2015"

Dispatch: " 2015, respond to the 800 block of Branch Pike for report of an MVA with injuries. Vehicle vs. pole".

Patrol Unit: "Receive, enroute".

This would indicate a call from Dispatch to District 20's Patrol Unit 15. Knowing who District 20 is tells you the location of the town involved.

Okay, maybe Google didn't like you but the fire apparatus info, at least, is among the links that Fineshot1 provided.

Follow the link to the fire chiefs' association and from there to Apparatus -- most or all apparatus and it is pretty easy to pick out the pattern. Each station has a three-digit code, the first two digits of which represent the town and the last digit represents the station within the town. For example Bordentown Township has stations 321 and 322. The stations then add a fourth digit representing the apparatus, so 3210-3219 belong to Station 321 (Mission) and 3220-3229 belong to Station 322 (Derby).

Sorry I can't help with PD, I don't know off the top of my head and I didn't explore the links to see if that is also there.

Thanks, Jim.... Your reply sent me in the right direction. The link for Fire Police has what I remember to be the District #s for the various PDs. Cinnaminson (20), Moorestown (31), Delran (23), Delanco (11), etc.

Evesham Twp-Dist 22 and so on and so forth. The PD identifiers are the same as the fire and EMS for each municipality. So if Sta. 221 and 223 are Evesham Twp. FD then 227 228 and 229 are for EMS and if the PD say they are out at 220 thats their headquarters. But they still use the 4-digit Identifiers for units in each department. We used to have a list in the RR database but I wonder if that got erased when they changed everything.

Got it.... I was looking for the first two digits that identify each town and the link for "Fire Police" at bcfirechiefs.org gave me that information. I remembered some of those numbers for the Riverfront communities (Cinnaminson, Riverton, Palmyra, Delran, etc) from when I was growing up in Cinnaminson. I'm kinda shocked that they remain the same 40 years after the fact.

Thanks to all for their replies and sending me in the right direction.
