DENVER -- A 29-year-old woman was killed Wednesday morning after she was struck by a Range Rover near a bus stop on Colorado Boulevard and Louisiana Avenue, authorities said.
Her identity has not been released. Witnesses who had called 911 initially said that it was a girl about 10 or 12 years old who was struck. But officers on the scene determined that the "very petite" pedestrian was not a child but a 29-year-old woman, said Denver police spokeswoman Virginia Quinones.
A Regional Transportation District bus was stopped in the area. The victim may have just left the bus and was walking in front of the bus, crossing Colorado Boulevard when she was hit, 7NEWS reported.
This occurred at 6:24 a.m., shutting down busy Colorado Boulevard for about two hours.
"It appears through the initial investigation that the driver of the Land Rover could not have avoided this very tragic accident," Quinones said. "The accident report is not complete therefore we are not releasing any information that pertains to either the driver or the pedestrian at this time."
