Anyone happen to know what frequencies the C.V.S.E uses in BC? (Commercial Vehicle Safety & Enforcement) I've seen their trucks and they have two antennas on them. Do they use RCMP frequencies since they are considered law enforcement? Could they share the Ministry of Highways channels? Or do they have their own?

What is "IC"?

Yes, makes sense that one is for their department's communication, and one for eavesdropping on the truckers.

Some use the Highway Ministry channels and some use private systems. They do not have a provincial control center or radio system.

Been listening to them lately in the lower mainland. Using Bravo 10 for the Nordel Scales. Charlie ## for the mobile units.

Also on the island they are Charlie Victor ## which is confusing because Conservation is CV on the lower mainland.

Have you found them to mostly be on HIGHWAYS 1? Or other hwy channels? I see there are 16 listed, I guess they switch to them depending on where they are? Wonder if they all connect.

Yeah 143.445 is the primary repeater used in the greater Vancouver area. The repeater frequencies are reused throughout the province.

Locally in the Greater Vancouver area the CVSE use cellular phones manufactured by QUAL-COMM. When those fail, they have been known to utilize the 143.445 MHz frequency of the Highways Radio band. If you move further out into the Fraser Valley, the CVSE officers utilize 142.995 MHz (CTCSS 77.0) and then switch over to 154.100 MHz (LADD 1) on the Coquihalla Highway. In the Kamloops area they can be heard on 143.175 MHz on the Dufferin Hill repeater.

The second antenna is for CB radio - they generally monitor channels 1 & 19 for truck traffic.
