I don't think that matches up with what I saw/heard from watching a couple of those Wild Justice episodes last month:
****************
Intel from the 3 episodes of National Geographic Channel's 'Wild Justice' show that I just watched:
Approx 200 DFG Wardens statewide. Kenwood remote-mount mobile radios, & Motorola handhelds (XTS-5000s & some older models). Many wardens basically work out of their houses & just meet up in the field or at a CHP post. They pretty much set their own hours, based on what's going on. They receive a lot of tips thru their tipline. Most drive the standard for or GM dark green pickup trucks. UCVs I saw a couple years ago when I surveiled them surveiling someone were a Ford Expedition & a pickup truck with shell. They were using ----------------------, no CTCSS, for the surveillance.
Squad 3320 is based in Santa Clara county & headed by Lt. John Nores, whose radio identifier is 3320. His team has 332# callsigns. They are all part of a joint task force with Santa Clara SO called the Marijuana Eradication Team -- dressing up in cammies & looking for grow operations in various ares. 3320's Kenwood radio showed the LOMA PRIETA channel on it's display.
2230 squad is based in the Chico area, and serves 2 counties with 8 wardens. 2236 was warden Mike Beals.
One DFG aircraft is N37FG, which ID'ed as "Fish & Game 7"
The 5210 Squad covers LA County.
Specialized SFG units include the Special Operations Unit, and the "D-BEEP" unit, which is Delta-Bay Enhanced Enforcement Project (
