Hello:

Can anyone direct me to a website where I can buy the cable and drivers for the yaesu vx-6? Many of these items on the net come with programming software, but it's no good without the drivers for the programming cable itself.

Thank you.

Have you looked at RT Systems? According to their information on the Windows version document their software includes drivers for their cable.
+1 on RT Systems. Their cables (and chipsets) are excellent quality. You can also use their cable with other programming software that's compatible with the radio.

RT Systems is the best way to go. Some radios have free software and cables are sometimes easy to find. Rt Systems packages include a guaranteed to work well made cable in the full programming package, and the various programs are able to share entered data although I have not tried that feature.

RT System cross platform sharing works pretty well. For instance, I can share programming data directly between by Icom 2730A and my TYT 9800.

That said, you still have to watch out for model specific settings. The TYT 9800 allows channel level power settings, the Icom 2730A does not.

Both radios are also supported in CHIRP, albeit with different cables.

I don't recall ever having a driver issue with an RT cable, which is something I can't say for some of my other cables.

The RT Systems cable also in compatible with other Yaesu handhelds that use the TRRS microphone connector. I've used the cable with VX6 Commander and it has worked well. Unfortunately newer HT's from Yaesu use the data connector and another cable is needed.

Don't mess with CHIRP for Yaesu programming. Have had issues with Yaesu's free software too on my FT70.
