Trying to monitor Oxford city police and fire on Uniden bcd436hp. Used Sentinel software to do a local search within 20 miles, also used sentinel to do a favorites list specifically for Oxford. not hearing any traffic. Do you know if those departments are using encryption?

Sorry to hear that. On the brightside you can probably sell it for what you bought it for on Ebay or similar.

Unfortunately scanning is a dying hobby and you probably won't be able to hear much other than civilian stuff in the next 3-5 years. But that can be done with any old scanner.

I remember my first scanner in the 70's, was from radio shack and what ever frequency you wanted to listen to you would buy a crystle and plug it in a slot. My grandmother turned me onto monitoring the local police and fire departments. She listened to them on a tunable transistor radio that had police band on it.The good ole days are gone forever unfortunately.
So the departments I want to listen to are difinately encrypted? It's just not a simple thing like programming error on my part?

Anyone in the Anniston/Oxford area can assist me? I noticed on broadcastfy they are streaming Calhoun county fire departments including Oxford. So that tells me that it isn't encrypted but Im not receiving those transmissions on my BCD436HP so I must have something in the programming wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Tried to contact the guy streaming those channels but it wont let me.

I would suggest trying the conventional frequencies listed for those agencies...
