California HAM Plates

Anybody have a Ham plate in California?

How do I go about doing this?

I know I have to fill out this form:

and attach a copy of my license and the fee, but that's it?

I want to retain the plate for a future vehicle I'll be having so it won't be going on a vehicle right away... Is that even possible because the form says it must be assigned to a vehicle currently registered.

In section 3 of that PDF you can check the box for "retain for future use."

Do you think I can check the two boxes on the top first?

For "Original", you don't do section 3.
