HELP!!! Recently purchased a WS1065. Goal is the local prison (Calipatria State Prison). They recently upgraded their radio system to a P25 trunked system. The local database still references the analog system. On an analog I can hear the control signal but when I program via software it scans but cant hear anything. I tried manually with and without Talk Groups and tried with the Radioreference supplied talk groups. How can I confirm this scanner will work on this, Phase I system.
I might have double posted, I apologize if I did.
Did they reuse the same frequencies as the old system?
Looking at the license,
WPBP637, it appears that they added the emission code for P25 Phase II as well as for Phase I. Looking at some of the other prisons in the database that show to Phase II, only Phase I talkgroups have been submitted so far, and only a few of them on this
system that covers multiple facilities. So, there must be a good bit of missing information.
What you probably should do is run Unitrunker or a similar program on the system, to see if it is showing Phase I or Phase II talkgroups in use. That would also help confirm the frequencies in use. If it shows Phase I, then you should be able to hear it (unless encrypted). If Phase II, you would not, with the WS1065.
Also, you might request that your posts be moved to the California State forum. Possibly someone else in that area might be able to shed more light on the subject. To do that, do
not create a new thread. Instead, click on the red outlined triangle in the upper right corner of your original post, and request that a moderator move them to the state forum as a new, separate, thread. You would have a better shot than adding the comments to an existing thread .
