Can’t hear a few frequencies

I’m using a uniden bcd396t fully upgraded firmware I live in Massachusetts Middlesex county Reading PD and Malden Pd all I hear is static why can’t I hear them and what can I do so I can. Second Marblehead Pd in Essex county MA SUDDENLY can only be heard in the immediate area please help

Check to ensure you did not enable ATTenuation

the screen would have "ATT" on it
on a trunked system if you hit hold it will show up under the control channel frequency.
also squelch should be set to "2"

So far all his issues are with Conventional channels

For the OP, check your Antenna
a. IS the connector wiggly/loose on the radio ?
b. Check the Center pin, see if it broke off

for trunked or conventional.
hit hold and look for the ATT on the screen,
function + E toggles it on and off.
another thing could be that they upgraded to a different mode of digital and the database has not been updated.
my antenna connector got stripped and with the antenna so loose i can just pull it out, i still can hear my county.
you might try the paperclip in the BNC trick to see if it improves.
and when you say static, be exact in what you mean.
is it sparotic like they are talking or it never stops ?
and again, squelch on 2.
