I just got my technician license (woohoo) and I'd like to use my transceiver for ham comms as well as scanner functions my BCD436HP has been so good for.

Is this even possible?

If not, are any mobile transceivers capable of this application?

Thanks in advance!

Well.. Yes and No. Most ham transceivers would only be able to scan analog conventional frequencies and only in the bands they cover. They typically will not scan trunking systems or receive digital signals such as P25, DMR or Provoice like your BCD436HP can. You might be able to buy a commercial transceiver that will do some of this but it will usually cost a lot more.

Looks like I'll have a messy dashboard after all. Thanks for the info. [emoji2]
