Guys,

I hope i'm not about to commit a terrible faux pas here! I have what might be a total noob question, but I'm hoping you can help me. I have a couple of good friends at the Terre Haute Police Dept. and up until a few months ago I was able to listen to them while they worked, both online and also on my phone(on a police scanner 'app'). It had only recently become possible because they had consolidated their radio system with the Vigo County system- I'm not sure of the details but that's what one of my buddies told me.

The issue is, at some point late summer or early fall (I don't remember exactly when) the feed went offline, and has never gone back online. Is there anything I can do to get hooked back up? I have a feeling that some anonymous person decided to unplug the feed, and there's nothing I can do about it, but if there's some way I could hook back up (or beg/offer fresh baked goods to someone else to hook me back up) that would be awesome. I just don't know where to start.

Does anyone have any hints or ideas? Thanks so much for putting up with my ignorance.

According to the DB Terre Haute PD is on the statewide system along with W Terre Haute and Sheriff. Only the dispatch channel is in the clear, all other Terre Haute PD channels are encrypted.
Vigo County, Indiana (IN) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

As for feeds, who knows. I have a feeling some ISPs may be getting on some of those running feeds due to bandwidth. Some people also use their only scanner for feeds or just get tired of doing it.

What does a string of bank robberies have to do with you removing the feed? They weren't robbing banks because of a feed....maybe to feed themselves though. lol, if everyone stopped their feeds because of bank robberies there wouldn't be any feeds anywhere. The jump in robberies is due to the economy... not radio feeds.

Well, thanks for providing the feed for as long as you did- I realize that there's a lot of work involved. Do you have any plans to resume, at some point? Is there anything that I could do to help? It was a really nice connection to home for me!

Thanks for the info, guys.

I hear what ur saying Viper, it just seemed so much of a coincidence I wanted to remove it to see if the Bank jobs would continue and surprisingly they stopped! We just don't usually get crimes like that around here...

sandbenders...I was considering putting it back on the air later this spring after I redo one of my older systems to run the scanner by itself 24/7 again...hopefully I will have it back together by April.

Well I hope the feed for Henry Co (if it's still going) doesn't leave the air..... they had a bank robbery in Middletown this afternoon just before 5pm.

You know I couldn't resist that one...... :)

Well, I'm looking forward to April, then- and thanks! Next time I'm in town I'll give you a shout. Maybe I can buy you a beer.
