HP-2: Can you power a Home Patrol2 off of a USB charger?

Do you have to buy the Uniden AC power unit, or can you run this thing off of a USB cube and a USB cable?

Also, what do people put in this for batteries? Rechargables and if so, what charger do you use?

According to page 31 in your owner's manual, the USB power jack requires 5v DC at 1000mA. So a USB cube meeting that spec with a USB mini connector on the scanner end of the cable would work.

I charge my Home Patrol on the same USB charger that I use for my mobile phone.

You can run the Home Patrol on any of these: 1) NiMH rechargeable batteries, 2) ordinary non-rechargeable batteries, or 3) no batteries, if the plug-in power source happens to be attached.
