• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Does anyone know if there is a downloadable Amateur Radio callsign database for Canada? Any other countries?

As far as I have been able to find out in the past, there is no "official" data dump for .ca callsigns like the FCC has for us here in the US.

I would assume that RAC gets their data from Industry Canada.

I'd check with them to see if there's a downloadable copy.

Lindsay - did any of the links here work? It looks like some of them are broken, but I believe the link http://apc-cap.ic.gc.ca/datafiles/amateur.zip should be fairly reliable and kept up to date. When I downloaded it just now, it had today (Saturday)'s date on the top of the text file. I'm pretty sure it's the same poorly-formatted file Bezking mentioned.

Looks like it's a fixed-width file - the format is in the readme included in the zipfile.
