Wow, and we thought AFRRCS was a "bad" acronym. I can imagine the jokes and ribbing people take with the name of this system...

New talkgroups found this week from Garrison Petawawa

10344 Enc
10345 Enc
10317

10317 Sounded like the MPs. Picked this one up today and it sounded like they were doing some sort of traffic control. I know they were supposed to shut an intersection of Hwy 17 down today at noon for 10 minutes to allow for military vehicles to proceed onto the highway and keep the convoy together, not sure if this was part of it or not.

Although I know it's not a good practice to submit unknown talkgroups to the database, but I've got a bunch of them that are active however unknown at this time. Given the type of system this is, I'd imagine we're gonna be awhile finding out what talkgroups are for what. Was hoping an admin might allow it for this time on this system.

Not sure if you've seen this before or not, the document is a few years old but it might shed some light on identifying what may or may not be the new Range Safety Net, Range Control, Range Admin Net etc..

There's no mention of the digital system as it wasn't in place yet when this document was done up, but it does mention the VHF-Low and High bands as well as some UHF MilAir and HF stuff.

I will tell you this. They have really bad audio from the range to that new P25 system. I wouldn't be surprised if they have to put up a 2nd tower out there someplace.

10531 is Range control as well. I think one repalce 48.7000mhz and the other 49.9000 mhz

But today it sounds like they are patching those TG's into those freqs now. Hearing traffic on 10339 doing tests as well today.

I think you'll find Range Control has 10350 to 10359. They seem to assign blocks of 10 channels to each group.

Typically you would have Range Common for interop with other departments like MP's, Fire, Forestry, etc, Range Control Ops for their own internal use and then one or more Range Safety Nets.
